All I Need Is the Love... of a Pitbull!

Updated: Jun 15

I have a bad case of doggie fever!

You see, I have had multiple dogs since adopting my first fur baby, twenty years ago. The most I had at one time was four and it was glorious. That said, I've never had less than two… that is, until I moved back to Buffalo two years ago.

The trip home was long and full of laughter. Piggie squeezed into the tiny middle “seat” of the U-Haul with my brother driving and me in the actual passenger seat. A luxury ride, It was not. For seventeen hours, Piggie was a rockstar and the best travel companion.

My sweet Piggie is my heart dog, my ride-or-die, my best friend. She is fourteen years old and while doing well, tragically, she will not live forever and that breaks my heart!

Previously, while having multiple fur babies, when a beloved family member crossed the Rainbow Bridge, I leaned on the others and they on me for comfort. My pain was not lessened and my guttural sobs were not muffled, yet we grieved together and that helped.

So, my Pig is fourteen years old and while doing great, I can’t help but think what will be coming and I honestly cannot imagine doing this on my own, period. I just can’t. Sidenote: my mom has never been through losing a furry family member and while we refer to her as “The Rock,” I truly think this break the old bird. That also breaks my heart.

I honestly think bringing a new pooch into the family will help us all. Piggie will always be number one… ALWAYS!  Yet, she can teach a newbie manners, the lay of the land, etc. The extra love in the house will be welcome and needed.

There are some necessary criteria for brining in a new pupper into our family:

1- Looking for pitbull

2- must love dogs and esp. Piggie

3- must love people and kids

4- must be chill and love cuddling

5- older dogs are welcome

6- potty trained is a major plus, but not required

7- walks well on a leash or at least fairly well

I am on the hunt in Buffalo. Any help, guidance and leads are appreciated!

We all need more love in this world and mine comes in the form of a pitbull.

xoxo,

Rach
